The project Sisi Eko explores the complexity of feminism as perceived in my society, and how different variations in the female figures create an identity. It also explores the concept of my assemblage as not just a piece made with metal alone, but as an assemblage that consists of more materials. It is a fusion of metal, organic materials, and found or discarded objects. Sisi Eko is a general term I heard on the streets while growing up. It means beautiful ladies of Lagos. Sisi means ladies, Eko means Lagos. Sisi is a Yoruba word used in describing a young and beautiful lady.
